# Execution model

## How the pieces fit

1. Make a **project** for the role.
2. Write **criteria** and launch a **search** in it. This uses one shortlist credit.
3. The search finishes with an outcome (*Shortlist ready*, *Poor yield* or *No results*) and fills the
   project's **shortlist** with everyone at or above the cut-off. See [async jobs](/guides/async-jobs).
4. Read the **scored people**, try **scoring changes** (free), and edit the **shortlist**.
5. For more people, search your workspace's candidates again (free) or **expand** (one more credit).

## Every action is deterministic

A search sent with criteria runs exactly those criteria: no model chooses what to search. Only a search sent
with `jd_text` alone has its criteria read from the description by Revcenter, and the response says so
(`compiled_by: "revcenter_model"`).
